Welcome to the WGA Library!

- Library Hours: 8:30am - 2:30pm
I'm the librarian Mrs. Butler. I am originally from Canada; I'm a mom and a book lover who has been with WGA since 2023 and the librarian since 2024. I am so excited to be part of your student's reading adventures again this year.
Student Visits to the Library are:
PreK - 3rd Grade have scheduled weekly visits to the library with their class to exchange books.
2nd - 6th Grade have a daily time scheduled by grade level for teachers to send students in small groups to borrow or return books.
In Chandler Unified School District, we are for all students all the time and we strive to foster learning environments that are inclusive of every person. This effort includes providing students opportunities to see themselves and others in the books they read. Students self-select books when they check materials out from our libraries. Additionally, per CUSD Board policy, the following standards are used in the selection of library books, materials, and electronic media:
-
Materials and media that widen the boundaries of the students’ thinking, that enrich their lives and help them fulfill their recreational and emotional needs.
-
Materials and media that have imaginative appeal and a style that is interesting.
-
Materials and media that stimulate the imagination, provide for mental growth, develop a taste for good writing, and draw attention to the beautiful and artistic.

Want to help out our Library?
WGA is always trying to update and expand our library selections. For those of our generous families and community members who would like to help, donations of elementary appropriate books are welcomed and appreciated. If you have hardcover books at home that are in good condition, which you would like to donate, we are happy to add gently used materials. If you are looking to help update or add to our selection with new books, hardcovers are preferred but paperbacks will also be accepted with our heartfelt gratitude. If you would like to donate but are unsure of what to select, please feel free to reach out for our current wish list of new titles and needed replacement copies. Additionally, Book Fairs are a great way to find materials our students might enjoy or titles that are on our library wish list.
Loans Policy
Checkout: Books are checked out for one week at a time. If students want to keep a book longer, they will need to bring the book back by the due date to renew it. If the book is currently on hold by another student, it will not be able to be renewed.
We will NOT check out books or hold scheduled library time the week before any intercession break or during the two annual book fairs. Instead, during this week we will focus on getting ALL books returned before the break and completing any updates or maintenance to the library and the books that need attending to.
Returns: Books must be returned inside the library, to the return cart or directly to the librarian. A fine may be issued for any items left outside which become damaged or go missing.
There is no place for returns when the library is closed. If an overdue book must be returned when the library is closed for the day, please turn it in at the front office.
How Many Books Can Be Borrowed at a Time?
PreK - K: One book at a time
1st-2nd: Two books at a time
3rd-6th: Three books at a time
Limitations
- CUSD offers parents the opportunity to submit a Library Limitation Request to limit check out for their child.
- Graphic Novels may only be checked out 1 at a time.
- Some of our popular series may only be checked out 1 at a time; a list of these series is posted in the library and continually updated as the popularity of titles changes.
- The library has a small, restricted section of Young Adult (YA) and Mature Themes (MT) books which may be checked out by all 5th and 6th grade students. If your child is not in these grades and would like to checkout one of these books, please fill out a Google Form.
Overdue, Damaged, or Lost Books
When a student checks out a book, it is their responsibility to return the book in good condition.
- Notices for overdue books will be sent from the library server each Monday after school.
- Beginning in the 2nd quarter, a book will be declared lost after it is missing for 30 days.
- If a book is returned damaged beyond reasonable repair, it will be assessed a fine. The age of the book will be considered when determining if a fine will be assessed for a damaged book.
